A Day at Nursery

• Arrive at our nursery in our secure car park, ensuring your child is safe during this busy time. Approach our entrance where you will be able to select which room to call on our secure door entry system. One of our dedicated staff will be on hand to allow you safe access to our building and welcome you to your child’s playroom.

• Your child will be joined by their peers in a fun and stimulating play environment, which reflects the children’s age and stage of development alongside their current developmental needs and interests. Our skilled staff will attune to the needs of your child and support them with their learning and development through our play-based approach.

• Our staff will prepare a yummy breakfast between 8:30am-9:30am. This will be a buffet style self-serve for our older children. Your child will be encouraged to participate in snack routines, enabling the development of their independence skills and life skills.

• Your child will be able to choose where they want to play, and for how long through our free-flow system between our indoor and outdoor environment. All of our play spaces, including our sensory rooms will be accessible to our children whenever they choose.

• All of our meals and snacks are served in a ‘rolling’ system which means that children won’t be disrupted from their play to sit and eat. Children will be encouraged to eat and to try the food on offer but will have choice as to when they would like to go to the eating area. AM snack is 8:30am-9:30am, lunch is 11:30am-12:30pm and PM snack is 3:30pm-4:30pm. Our youngest children will be supported throughout mealtimes whereas our older children will be encouraged to be independent and try things for themselves. Of course, our staff will be on hand to support if required and will fully supervise the eating area at all times.

• Our staff will keep you updated on your children’s activity throughout the day, including meals, nappy changes and sleeps via our fantastic Famly app. You will see some photo’s posted onto the newsfeed to update you on any exciting learning experiences on offer throughout your child’s day.

• Throughout the day you are welcome to phone the nursery to check in on your child and to ask any question you may have. You can also message the staff in your child’s room directly via our Famly app and they will respond to you as quick as possible.

• At home time, our staff will provide a handover with any important information about your child’s day. All routine information such as meals, sleeps and nappy changes are all logged on the app for your convenience therefore our staff will focus handovers on any exciting learning or development opportunities your child has engaged in throughout their day.

At Kirkintilloch Nursery we use the Famly system which enables our staff to communicate your child’s day with you. This includes any exciting learning experiences on offer, when your child has slept, had any nappy changes, changes of clothes and mealtimes. We also use this app for uploading children’s learning assessments and observations, sharing photo’s of your children, invoicing and general communication with our families
